/t/ is a quick tongue-tip sound: the tip taps the ridge just behind the top teeth and releases a small puff of air, with no voice. It is also the sound many children use in place of /k/ when they front back sounds, so it shows up on both sides of a contrast.
The initial and final word and phrase boards give straightforward drill, and the /t/ and /d/ early-sounds set practices the voiceless and voiced pair together. If a student is saying /t/ for /k/, the whack game makes that contrast a fast listening game.

Questions
- What cue helps with /t/?
- Show the tongue tip going up behind the top teeth, and let the student feel the puff of air on the back of their hand. Then contrast it with /d/: the same place, but with the voice on.
- Why is /t/ part of the /k/ whack game?
- Because /t/ is what a child who fronts says instead of /k/. Whacking only the /k/ words means listening for the difference between the two, which supports the production practice on the /k/ boards.
- Is final /t/ harder than initial /t/?
- For a student who leaves off final sounds, yes, and final /t/ needs practice of its own. The final flashcards and phrases are separate for that reason. If the pattern affects other sounds too, pair them with the final consonant deletion minimal pairs.
