Your SMART goal

By the annual IEP review date, given structured activities with a visual cue, [Student] will produce the /ch/ sound in all word positions with 80% accuracy across 3 consecutive sessions, as measured by clinician data collection.

Short-term objectives

  1. Given moderate cues (models or visual prompts) and structured activities with a visual cue, [Student] will produce the /ch/ sound in all word positions with 45% accuracy across 2 consecutive sessions.
  2. Given minimal cues (a verbal reminder) and structured activities with a visual cue, [Student] will produce the /ch/ sound in all word positions with 60% accuracy across 2 consecutive sessions.
  3. Independently, given structured activities with a visual cue, [Student] will produce the /ch/ sound in all word positions with 80% accuracy across 3 consecutive sessions.

A starting point for the IEP team: set the criterion from the student's baseline.

Frequently asked questions

What makes an IEP goal SMART?
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound. The generator puts each part in a fixed slot: a timeframe, the condition the skill is shown under, the observable behavior from the goal bank, a percent criterion over consecutive sessions, and how it is measured.
Where do the goal templates come from?
From the free SLPDesk goal bank: the same templates published at /goal-bank, covering articulation, language, pragmatics, fluency, voice, AAC, literacy and phonological awareness. You can edit the behavior text before copying.
How are the short-term objectives built?
Three steps toward the annual criterion that fade support: moderate cues at about 60% of the target accuracy, minimal cues at about 80%, then independent performance at the full criterion. Adjust them to the student's baseline.
Is anything I type sent or stored?
No. The goal is assembled in your browser and never leaves it. The tool does not ask for a student name; the goal says [Student] so you can fill it in your IEP software.
